The state Advocacy Team is hosting a State Advocacy Team Question and Answer Event.
The event is open to anyone interested in working on state-level League advocacy.
(Also open to League members who wish to learn more about how League advocacy works.)
The State League's Advocacy Teach-In and Tune-Up and “binder” of materials are available online. We strongly recommend reviewing the video and materials prior to the event.
Here are the materials for self-study prior to the event:
- Advocacy Tune-up Video (If the closed captions block the presentation, you can turn them off by clicking the “CC” button in the bottom right corner.) This video reviews how the LWVC forms positions and acts, the California’s legislative process, how to build issue proficiency, and a framework for understanding and analyzing legislation.
- The Teach-In Binder, Worksheets, PowerPoint slides with notes, and the Q&A log are downloadable from this Binder folder.
- Links to resources mentioned in the video are as follows:
Even if you do not plan to attend the January 26th event, you may want to read these materials and watch the video to learn more about how League advocacy works. (It's fascinating!)
If you have questions, feel free to reach out to the LWVC advocacy team via email at advo...@lwvc.org.
If you have questions that you already know you wish to ask on Janaury 26th, please send them to the lwvc-advocacy@googlegroups.com address before the meeting.
