Join Braver Angels San FranciscoonSaturdayMay 20, 11am - 1pm viaZoomfor a deep dive intoan alternate voting method, Ranked Choice Voting.
We have put together a panel of 5 people who reflect a wide range of knowledge and opinions about Ranked Choice Voting - including the sector that “hasn’t thought about it much.” Become better informed!
We will explore the following questions:
- Why do some people object to RCV?
- How does RCV help minimize partisan rhetoric?
- Does RCV increase the possibility that an unqualified candidate could be elected with a small percentage of the popular vote? How could this happen?
- Does converting to an open primary process work in concert with RCV?
- RCV is frequently described as “complicated”. Is it?
- Does RCV cost communities more money to run an election?
As Americans continue to have concerns about how to ensure trustworthy elections, lets not overlook how a voting method itself can affect voter confidence and outcomes.
