Committees

The Advocacy Committee encourages active and informed citizen participation by monitoring government operations and researching issues, then educating members and making recommendations for action to the Board, our members and state and local government.

The LWV Book Group host a monthly discussion of a book that will help expand our civic awareness on key issues. While many of the books are non-fiction, they are not necessarily political in nature, and occasionally we may read a pertinent novel. Check out our current Book List  Here. The Outreach Committee supports the Sonoma County League of Women Voters by registering, educating and inspiring voters to get involved in the electoral process through tabling at community events.

The Stand Up for Democracy committee engages the public in our Constitution and government illustrating how government is supposed to run on the federal, state and local level and why it matters. We also provide ways to get involved in local government.

A subgroup of the VOTER SERVICE COMMITTEE. LWV volunteers distribute Voter Registration Cards to 112 locations in Sonoma County. Each volunteer services an average of 10 locations.

The Voter Services Committee provides Sonoma County with non-partisan voter education, promotes free and fair elections and provides opportunities to register eligible voters.

LWV Sonoma County’s Youth Outreach Program engages Sonoma County youth in conversations about their voting rights and how voting affects their everyday life. Our volunteers visit county high schools, colleges and youth-serving organizations to educate, motivate and register students to become informed voters.
